Best Cusco tours itinerary:

Day 1: Sacred Valley – Pisac town – Pisac Market – Moray, Salt mine – Urubamba – Ollantaytambo

We will start the best Cusco tours exploring the Sacred Valley.  On the way to Pisac, We will stop at the weaving center of Awana cancha, also at Mirador of Taray to take in the view of the Urubamba valley.  The valley has crops that dress the mountains like carpets. We will arrive in the town of Pisac, a touristy place because its popular souvenir Market, driving 20 minutes higher we will visit one of the most popular Inca ruins in the Sacred Valley. Afterward, we will continue to the town of Urubamba to enjoy our box lunch.

After lunch we will visit the awesome Salt mine of Maras, afterwards we drive to the always impressive Inca laboratory of Moray, on the way back to Cusco, we will visit the popular town of Chinchero, where local native women will make a complete demonstration of the whole weaving process using the old Inca Techniques. Finally you will be take back to the hotel in Cusco.

Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

In the morning the scheduled time you will be taken to the Train station of Poroy and then the train ride to Aguas Calientes is approx. 3hours. You will meet your guide and go to the bust station, the drive to Machu Picchu is 30 minutes the guide will transmit us all the history of this mysterious and mystical place (Sun Temple, Royal Palace, Main Temple, Three Windows Temple and Sun Dial). It will be an unforgettable experience. After the guided tour, you will have some extra free time to explore the area on your own, you can also do the additional hikes around (Sun gate or Inca Bridge). At the appropriate time we will go down to Aguas Calientes and then return to Cusco.

Day 3: Cusco – Rainbow Mountain – Cusco.

We will start our trip with the pick-up from your hotel in Cusco at 4:30am and start driving through the South Valley of Cusco. The bus ride to arrive at Kayrabiry (4,326 m / 14,189 ft.) is approx. for 3 hours. After we arrived to the trail head, our professional chef will prepare and serve us a nutritious breakfast.

After breakfast, we will take our day packs with some essential things for the day and start our trip uphill, following a clear marked trail along a lovely stream, we will observe many alpacas and llamas on the hillsides; this area is home of numerous indigenous Quechua people who are herders of those animals. As we go to the Rainbow Mountain, we will have some great views of the Mt Ausangate. A long the way, we will pass small villages which are home of the indigenous people.

After 2 hours of horseback ride we will arrive close to the spectacular colorful Mountains (5,100 m / 16,500 ft.), the last 20 minutes you need to walk to reach the lookout for the rainbow mountain, horses are not allowed to take you all the way to the hill-top from where you will enjoy the beauty of this natural miracle; we will have plenty of time to take pictures and explore this incredible scenic place.

After to admire the Majestic of the Rainbow Mountains, we will walk back down to the horse station and then begin our return down to the bus parking place at Kayrabiry. In the afternoon after having lunch we will drive for 3 hours to come back to Cusco, estimated arrival time is around 6pm.

Day 1 – Arrival to Cusco

Upon your arrival to Cusco, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to rest and get acclimated to the altitude, you can also choose to explore some of the ancient Inca Streets in the downtown.

Day 2: Sacred Valley of the Incas -Pisac Market – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes.

We will drive toward the Sacred Valley of the Incas, taking the direct route to Pisac. On the way, we will visit the weaving center of Awana Cancha where we will have free time to interact with the local craftsmen and to purchase their hand-made textiles. We will stop at the Mirador of Taray to take in the view of the Urubamba valley.

The valley has crops that dress the mountains like carpets. We will arrive in the town of Pisac to visit a fantastic local Market (optional to visit the Inca ruin of Pisac). Afterward, we will continue to the town of Urubamba to enjoy a buffet lunch.

After lunch we will visit Ollantaytambo, an attractive town of Incan origin with remarkable water channels and stone streets. There is an impressive ceremonial center that pays homage to the water and a fortress that guarded the access to the interior part of the valley. In the evening we will take the train to Aguas Calientes.

Day 3: Machu Picchu – Cusco.

After your breakfast at the hotel, the guide will pick you up and lead you to the bus station, we then board the bus that will take us to the citadel of Machu Picchu. Where you will have a guided tour of the Citadel, our guide will show us the Main Plaza, the Sun Temple, the Sacred Sun Dial (Intihuatana), the Royal palace, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Main temple, Sacred Rock, warehouses, and all the most important places. It will be a magical experience at this wonderful and charming place. After the guided tour you will have free time to explore the area on your own. or you can take the following hiking options:

  1. Climb to Wayna Picchu; suggested for the most adventurous people, Wayna Picchu is a great option to observe the immensity of Machu Picchu, even more amazing being very high and distant (we suggest you to book it in advance).
  2. Walk to Sun Gate; all the visitors of Machu Picchu are allowed to walk (approx. 2 hours up and down) up to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku)
  3. Montaña Machu Picchu; it is much longer and higher than Wayna Picchu so it needs at least 3 hours of intense hike up and down to be finished it but it is definitely worth it.

In the afternoon at the schedule time you will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes, and then we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo. The journey by train takes approximately 1:40 Hours, upon your arrival to the train station, you will transferred back to the hotel in Cusco.

Day 2: Tour to Chinchero, moray, Salt mines – Cusco

We will pick you up at 8:30am from your hotel and then we will 40 minute drive to Chinchero the place for the best women weavers of the region, we stop here to visit the native people. We continue our excursion with another 40 minute drive to the Inca agricultural experimental center of Moray. The site was apparently an Inca agricultural research station designed for experimenting with crops at various altitudes (many run down to depths of 100 meters). It is believed that the terraces were built over containing walls filled with fertile earth and watered by complex irrigation systems. This enabled the Incas to grow more than 250 different plant species.

On the way to the salt mine we will pass Maras a quaint little town with homes that boast out-standing Spanish doors and arches. Maras is famous for people who were spies due to its strategic location above The Sacred Valley. In the final part of the tour we will get down into The Sacred Valley of the Incas to see the phenomenal salt pans of Salinas. There are more than 3000 terraces are still in production. In the afternoon we will come back to Cusco.

Itinerary for Cusco Machu Picchu excursion

Day 1 – Arrival to Cusco

Upon your arrival to Cusco, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to rest and acclimate. You can also choose to explore some of the ancient Inca Streets. Cusco is situated at 3,400 mts. / 11,152 ft. Above sea level.

Day 2 – Cusco Sightseeing Tour – Sacsayhuaman and Nearby Ruins

After breakfast at the hotel, you will have the morning free to relax. In the afternoon, we will pick you up from the hotel and begin our sightseeing tour of Cusco the Imperial City. Cusco is a living example of Andean and Spanish cultures. We begin our tour by visiting the Santo Domingo Convent, which is built over Qoricancha. We will visit the ancient Inca Sun Temple, and the Main Square. Outside of the city, we will visit the Sacsayhuaman Fortress, an example of military Inca architecture. We will finish our tour visiting some the other archaeological sites: Qenqo, Pukapukara and Tambomachay. The tour takes Approximately 4 hours

Day 3 – Sacred Valley of the Incas

After breakfast, we will pick you up from the hotel at 8:15 a.m. and drive toward The Sacred Valley of the Incas. On the way, we will stop at Mirador of Taray to take in the view of the Urubamba valley. The valley is filled with crops that dress the mountains like carpets. We will arrive at the traditional market of Pisac, where we will have free time to shop and to interact with the local craftsmen. We will continue to the town of Urubamba for a buffet lunch. In the afternoon we will visit Ollantaytambo, a quaint town of Inca foundation with remarkable water channels, stone streets, colorfully dressed native people and the impressive fortress on the hill and Sun Temple on the top.

In the evening, we will take the train to the town of Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. The journey by train takes approximately one hour and forty minutes.

In the afternoon travelers are picked up from their hotel at 1:15pm, after a short drive by car we will start the City Tour in Cusco, visiting Qoricancha, a wonderful Inca Sun temple, a construction built during the Incas heydays. Later on, we will drive to the northern outskirts of Cusco, to visit the famous four ruins around Cusco.

Sacsayhuaman is the most Impressive and outstanding Inca Temple just 20 minutes away from the Incas’ Capital, where we will walk through huge Inca walls, built with massive lime rocks weighing up to 128 tons,  amazingly well fitted, with absolute perfection. Then, we will move onto another important Inca site called Qenqo, a strange place with subterranean passages, hiding in its interior perfect carved rock formation where the Incas probably mummify some of the very important people in their society. We will finish our tour visiting the spectacular Inca Baths of Tambomachay and the military lookout point of Pukapukara, and then finally we will be back to Cusco.

Day 2: Chinchero – Moray- Maras- Salt Mine – Cusco.

In the morning at the scheduled time we’ll pick you up in the lobby of your Hotel, we then have a 40 minutes of bus drive to arrive to the fertile plain of Chinchero full of farming fields & beautiful landscapes, at Chinchero we will stop to see the locals weaving centers, where native women will teach us all the process of man-made textelies. We will continue our drive to the town of Maras, which has nice colonial doorways made of stone, unique around Cusco region, 20 minutes later we will arrive to the Inca ruins of Moray called “the Inca laboratory”. The guide will show us this wonderful place and we will walk around.

We then drive to the Salt mines with beautiful views of Urubamba Mountain range and  passing by many farming fields we will arrive to the salt pans of Salineras, where we will be able to observe the fascinating salt mine own by the locals, with more than 3000 pools still in production, since many centuries ago. Finally our Transfer will take us back to Cusco.

Day 3: Sacred Valley -Pisac Market – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes.

We will drive toward the Sacred Valley of the Incas, taking the direct route to Pisac. On the way, we will visit the weaving center of Awana Cancha where we will have free time to interact with the local craftsmen and to purchase their hand-made textiles. We will stop at the Mirador of Taray to take in the view of the Urubamba valley.

The valley has crops that dress the mountains like carpets. We will arrive in the town of Pisac to visit a fantastic local Market (optional to visit the Inca ruin of Pisac). Afterward, we will continue to the town of Urubamba to enjoy a buffet lunch.

After lunch we will visit Ollantaytambo, an attractive town of Incan origin with remarkable water channels and stone streets. There is an impressive ceremonial center that pays homage to the water and a fortress that guarded the access to the interior part of the valley. In the evening we will take the train to Aguas Calientes.

Day 4: Machu Picchu – Cusco.

After your breakfast at the hotel, the guide will pick you up and lead you to the bus station, we then board the bus that will take us to the citadel of Machu Picchu. Where you will have a guided tour of the Citadel, our guide will show us the Main Plaza, the Sun Temple, the Sacred Sun Dial (Intihuatana), the Royal palace, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Main temple, Sacred Rock, warehouses, and all the most important places. It will be a magical experience at this wonderful and charming place. After the guided tour you will have free time to explore the area on your own. or you can take the following hiking options:

  1. Climb to Wayna Picchu; suggested for the most adventurous people, Wayna Picchu is a great option to observe the immensity of Machu Picchu, even more amazing being very high and distant (we suggest you to book it in advance).
  2. Walk to Sun Gate; all the visitors of Machu Picchu are allowed to walk (approx. 2 hours up and down) up to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku)
  3. Montaña Machu Picchu; it is much longer and higher than Wayna Picchu so it needs at least 3 hours of intense hike up and down to be finished it but it is definitely worth it.

In the afternoon at the schedule time you will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes, and then we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo. The journey by train takes approximately 1:40 Hours, upon your arrival to the train station, you will transferred back to the hotel in Cusco.

 Day 5:  Cusco – flight back to Lima.

In the morning, we will pick you up from the hotel and transport you to the airport in Cusco.
