Vinicunca Mountain tour – Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco – Llaqto – Rainbow Mountain – Llacto – Cusco

We will start the Vinicunca Mountain tour with the pick-up from your hotel in Cusco at 4:30 am and the bus ride to arrive at Llaqto (4,650 m / 14,389 ft.) is approx.3 hours long. After we arrived to the trail-head trail, our expert chef will prepare and serve us a delicious breakfast.

After breakfast, we will get some essential things for the day and start our trip by horse, following a clearly marked footpath, we will observe some alpacas and llamas on the hillsides; this area is home of indigenous Quechua people who are herders of those animals.

After 1 hour of horseback ride we will arrive close to the spectacular Rainbow Mountain Peru (5,100 m / 16,500 ft.), the last 30 minutes you need to walk to reach the lookout for the rainbow mountain, horses are not allowed to take you all the way to the top.

After to enjoy the Majestic of the Rainbow Mountains, we will walk back down to the horse station and then begin our return down to the bus parking place. In the afternoon after lunch we will drive for 3 hours to come back to Cusco, estimated arrival time is around 5pm.

Day 1. –  Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
In the morning of Machu Picchu day tour, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco 2 hours before the departure of your train and take you to the train station in the town of Ollantaytambo. We will board a train of one of the two companies operating in Peru – Peru Rail or Inca Rail. We will begin the journey from Ollantaytambo to the town of Aguas Calientes. The views out your train windows will be absolutely spectacular as we travel beside the roaring Urubamba River and the towering mountains surrounding it!

In Aguas Calientes, our tour guide will be waiting for us and will accompany us to the bus station where we will board the bus to take us to the Royal citadel of Machu Picchu! There we will have our 2-hour guided tour, visiting the Main Plaza, the Sun temple, the impressive sundial, the Royal Quarters, the main Temple, the Temple of the Three Windows, etc. We will be amazed by the lost city of the Incas,

Then we will descend to the town of Aguas Calientes by bus, where you can have lunch at one of the various restaurants in Aguas Calientes or at Sanctuary Lodge (lunch is on you).

At 16:22 hrs (subject to availability), we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo. This trip takes about two hours. At 20:00 hrs, we will board a private bus which will take us back to Cusco. We arrive in Cusco at approximately 22:30 hrs.

Day 1.- Qoricancha – Cusco & four ruins

Travelers are picked up from their hotel at 1:30 in the afternoon, after a short drive by bus we will start the City Tour in Cusco, visiting Qoricancha, a wonderful Inca Sun temple, a construction built during the Incas heydays. Afterwards we will pass by the major square of Cusco called as Plaza de Armas; where we will be able to see all the big catholic buildings from XVI century, including the famous Cathedral, which is considered as the best and beautiful church in South America. Later on, we will drive to the northern outskirts of Cusco, to visit the famous four ruins around Cusco.

Sacsayhuaman is the most Impressive and outstanding Inca Temple just 20 minutes away from the Incas’ Capital, where we will walk through huge Inca walls, built with massive lime rocks weighing up to 128 tons, amazingly well joined, with absolute perfection. Then, we will move onto another important Inca site called Qenqo, a strange place with subterranean passages, hiding in its interior perfect carved rock formation where the Incas probably mummify some of the very important people in their society. We will finish our tour visiting the spectacular Inca Baths of Tambomachay and the military lookout point of Pukapukara, and then we will get back to Cusco.

Itinerary of Chinchero Moray excursion & Machu Picchu:

DAY 1. – Chinchero – Moray – Salt mines – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes.

In the morning at the scheduled time we’ll pick you up from the Hotel. After 40 minutes of drive with direction to the Sacred Valley, we will arrive to the fertile plain of Chinchero full of farming fields & beautiful landscapes. At Chinchero we will stop to see the locals weaving center. After to learn all the ancient weaving techniques from the locals, we will continue traveling to the town of Maras, which has nice colonial doorways made of stone unique around Cusco region. From Maras there will be a short drive to arrive to the Inca ruins of Moray, called “the Inca laboratory”. The guide will transmit us all the history of this wonderful place, we will have chance to walk around

We then drive to the Salt mines, accompanied with beautiful views of Urubamba Mountain range. On the way to the Salt Mine we will pass by many farming fields. The amazing salt pans of Salineras are owe by the locals, with more than 3000 pools still functioning, since pre-Inca times. We will have a short drive to Urubamba for lunch. In the afternoon we will visit Ollantaytambo Inca fortress, after to visit this formidable Inca site we will have the train ride to Aguas Calientes.

Day 2. Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Back to Cusco.

After your breakfast at the hotel, the guide will pick you up and lead you to the bus station. Then we will have a short bus drive to the gate of the citadel of Machu Picchu. Where you will have a guided tour of the Citadel, our guide will show us the Main Plaza, the Sun Temple, the Sacred Sun Dial, the Royal palace, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Main temple and Sacred Rock. You can also take the following hiking options:

1. Climb to Wayna Picchu; suggested for the most adventurous people, Wayna Picchu is a great option to observe the immensity of Machu Picchu, even more amazing being very high and distant (we suggest you to book it in advance).

2. Walk to Sun Gate; all the visitors of Machu Picchu are allowed to walk (approx. 2 hours up and down) up to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku)

3. Montaña Machu Picchu; it is much longer and higher than Wayna Picchu so it needs at least 3 hours of intense hike up and down to be finished it but it is definitely worth it.

In the afternoon at the schedule time you will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes, and then we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo. The journey by train takes approximately 1:40 Hours, upon your arrival to the train station, you will transferred back to the hotel in Cusco.

Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco- Killarumiyoc – Chonta-  Condor lookout

In the morning at the scheduled time travelers will be picked up from their hotels in Cusco.  We then start traveling through a beautiful mountain scenery, after 1 hour drive we will arrive to archaeological site of Killarumiyoc, our guide will show us this beautiful and charming place called the Moon temple, a while after driving from Killarumiyoc we will start descending to the Valley of Limatambo.

We will continue driving uphill on the dirt road towards to the community of Chonta (3,400 m). After 1 ½ hours of hiking (moderate difficulty) we will reach the lookout of Hahuacco, which has great views of the Chonta canyon and Vilcabamaba mountain range; with some of luck we will be able to spot over dozens of the Condors soaring in their natural habitat; which normally happens around 2pm. In the afternoon after to enjoy our Condor Sighting activity we walk back down to Chonta for 1 ½ hours until to arrive to the campsite.

Day 2: Chonta – Tarawasi – Cusco.

In the morning we will wake up with a cup of Coca tea served by our crew and then we will slowly pack all our equipment. To finish our Chonta Condor flight tour we will drive for 2 more hours to arrive back in Cusco city.

On our way back to Cusco we will visit the popular Salt mines and the great experimental center of the Incas “Moray”, just before to finish the Sacred Valley tour we will have a last stop at one of the famous weaving centers at Chinchero, this is your chance to interact with the indigenous women to learn all the techniques and process to make the handmade textiles using alpaca and llama wool, we then arrive in Cusco at about 6:30-7:00 pm.

Itinerary

Full itinerary for Sacred Valley excursion:

Day 1. – Cusco – Pisac – Ollantaytambo- Aguas Calientes

We will drive toward the Sacred Valley of the Incas, taking the direct route to Pisac. On the way, we will visit the weaving center of Awana Cancha where we will have free time to interact with the local craftsmen and to purchase their hand-made textiles. We will stop at the Mirador of Taray to take in the view of the Urubamba valley.

The valley has crops that dress the mountains like carpets. We will arrive in the town of Pisac to visit a fantastic local Market (optional to visit the Inca ruin of Pisac). Afterward, we will continue to the town of Urubamba to enjoy a buffet lunch.

After lunch we will visit Ollantaytambo, an attractive town of Incan origin with remarkable water channels and stone streets. There is an impressive ceremonial center that pays homage to the water and a fortress that guarded the access to the interior part of the valley. In the evening we will take the train to Aguas Calientes.

Day 2.- Aguas – Calientes Machu picchu – Cusco

In the morning after breakfast, we will board one of the first buses which will take us to the magical energetic center of the Incas “Machu Picchu”. A professional tour guide will transmit us all the history of this mysterious and mystical place (Sun Temple, Royal Palace, Main Temple, Three Windows Temple and Sun Dial). It will be an unforgettable experience. After the guided tour, you will have some extra free time to explore the area on your own, you can also do the additional hikes around (Sun gate or Inca Bridge). At the appropriate time we will go down to Aguas Calientes and then return to Cusco.

Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco – Kayrabiri – Llamachinpana

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and start driving through the South Valley. The ride to the trail-head at Quesiuno (4,326 m / 14,189 ft) is approx.3 hours long. Once we arrive to the Encantuyoc Bridge, our cook will prepare a delicious breakfast.

After breakfast, our horseman will load all the gear on the horses and then we will be able to start the hike uphill. Following a lovely stream, we will be surprisingly surrounded by the herds of alpacas and llamas; this region is the home of numerous Andean people who own those beautiful animals. As we hike to the Rainbow Mountain, we will have constant view of the Ausangate Mountain. We will also hike through a small villages and interact with the local people. If we are lucky enough we will have the chance to see the Vicuñas, the Peruvian National animal.

After approx. 4 hours hike, we will arrive to the campsite of kayrabiri, close by the village of Llamachimpana. After a delicious lunch, we will have the opportunity to visit some of the families and see the real Andean life style. This region has interesting customs and traditions to learn. We then return to the camp for dinner.

Day 2: Llamachimpana – Vinicunca – Kayrabiri – Cusco

We will continue with our Rainbow Mountain tour waking up with a cup of hot coca tea and the beautiful sunrise. After the delicious breakfast prepared by our chef, we will start the second day towards the Rainbow Mountain, 2 hours uphill hike will let us to arrive to our dreamed destination.

The Rainbow Mountain (5,020 m / 16,466 ft), is a spectacular geological formation, which will get us immerse into the shock of it is beauty; we will have the opportunity to explore the area and admire this amazing rainbow Mountain. We will spend approx. 30 minutes to take pictures and have snacks while we enjoy the view of the whole Ausangate mountain range.

After to enjoy and admire the Majestic Rainbow Mountain, we will walk back downhill for approx. 4 hours to the lunch place. In the afternoon we will have 3 hour return drive to Cusco, arriving to your hotel around 8pm.

Day 1: Cusco – Llaqto – Raibow Mountain – Llacto – Cusco

After to pick you up from your hotel in Cusco. You will start the adventure journey to the famous Rainbow Mountain. The drive to the trail-head at Llacto (4,326 m / 14,189 ft) is approx.for 3 hours. Once we arrive to the parking place, there will be some time for breakfast.

Taking our day pack with essential items we start the hike. Following a gentle path, you will start gaining elevation. If you are lucky there will be alpacas and llamas grazing on the sides of the trail. As you get closer to Vinicunca the trail becomes steeper. But will be encouraging to see hikers on the top of the hill enjoying the majestic of the Rainbow Mountain Peru.

At the lookout for Vinicunca the elevation is 5,020 m / 16,466 ft, and this gives you the opportunity of admiring the spectacular mountain scenery. Taking our pictures from the top you will walk back down the same way you came. When you get back to the buses parking out chef will be awaiting with a hot lunch. In the afternoon you will have 3 hour return drive to Cusco and you will be drop off at your hotel.

We leave Moray and then start our gentle hike towards Maras town, passing by many farming fields the trail lead us to the salt pans of Salineras, where travelers can observe the fascinating salt mine own by the locals, with more than 3000 pools still in production, since pre-Incan times. Finally we will walk down to Urubamba for lunch. In the afternoon our transfer will take us back to Cusco or you can continue to Ollantaytambo.
